J-1 Exchange Visitors
ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ is proudly designated by BridgeUSA, under the direction of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, as an approved sponsor of the J Exchange Visitor Program.
This designation enables ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ to welcome talented international scholars and students who enrich our academic community through research, teaching, professional observation, and educational exchange opportunities across our eight Colleges and Schools.
Exchange Visitor Categories
ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ is authorized to sponsor eligible individuals in the following J-1 Exchange Visitor categories:
- College and University Student
Maintaining J-1 Status
To maintain lawful J-1 status, exchange visitors must comply with all requirements associated with their specific exchange visitor category.
Health Insurance
Federal regulations require all J-1 Exchange Visitors and J-2 dependents to maintain qualifying health insurance coverage for the entire duration of their program.
Two-Year Home Residency Requirement
Some J-1 Exchange Visitors are subject to the Two-Year Home-Country Physical Presence Requirement, commonly known as Section 212(e)
